[vvp/teen] Sex Trafficking
We are starting to work on our topic for the machinima. The topic is sex trafficking. I believe that sex trafficking is destroying our country little by little and people do not recognize that the problem is right in their backyards. This is disappointing because many people around this country know that kids have been kidnapped and can be used for something like sex trafficking. They could be across the country or even around the world. Human trafficking makes me sick

I agree. It's so disgusting what is happening right in front of America's eyes. Not enough people are aware of the extent of this despicable crime and something needs to be done about that. I don't know what we can do. I know that some have founded homes for formerly-trafficked teens to provide protection and a new start. Is that enough though? How do we stop the problem from occuring in the first place? Educate our teens? I thought we were already doing that.
I am sure that in some cases, there ARE troubled teens who run away from home and turn to a life of prostitution and drugs to block out the reality. However, those are not the teens we are concerned with here. As sad as that might be, there will never come day when we have the power to control an individual's personal choices in life. We can only provide guidance and let them walk their own path (which may very well lead to jail).
The teens we are concerned with are the ones who are coaxed into lives of prostitution and drugs by "friends" who have already been sucked into the game... or kidnapped and completely removed from their lives, forced to degrade themselves on a daily basis.
Some of them never escape... and most of the ones who do, don't get any justice. I think we are all just starting to wake up to this problem, but we need to get out of bed much quicker and start the day because this problem is only increasing as we let these disgusting human beings get away with it.
Let's all work together on fighting this demon. It's so important. I am 22 years old and it's things like this that make me terrified to ever have children.
Can we even let our kids sleep over a friend's house? Go to school? Have a boy/girlfriend? Can we let them get a job? Got to the mall?
This world is a despicable place in my opinion. Of course, there is always good to balance out the bad. But why pretend the bad isn't there? The only time people actually care is when it directly affects them in some way... when THEIR child is the one who has been abducted and forced into prostitution before they've even lost their virginity.
Serious issue at hand. Raising awareness throughout our country is the most important thing rightnow. Keep working...
